A new Screenage Kicks feature, dedicated to big explosions and blinding flashes in films. I reckon you can’t go wrong with a bit of Die Hard – John McTiernan has not been beaten on the witty action thriller front since, I don’t think. It’s a cheesy cop-who-doesn’t-play-by-the-rules popcorn movie, yet it has beautiful photography, painterly framing, great performances (and such memorable dialogue!) and perhaps most important of all, it rattles along at a pace which reflects the events portrayed.
Anyway, here we see Alexander blasting away at the LAPD’s reconnaissance vehicle from the third floor of the Nakatomi Plaza.
