This screengrab from Philby, Burgess And Maclean has lingered on my hard drive for a long time, so I am afraid I cannot remember who is supposed to be writing it
(nor can I completely decipher the scrawl). If you can fill in the gaps please do get in touch, as I don’t fancy wading through the pile looking for it!
I am astonished that Burgess was once thought to be a genius. At forty he is drunken, dirty and dissolute, but sporadically brilliant.
