Framed Documents #284: Der Untergang

Forgive my possibly skewy transcription, and my almost certainly off-key (Google-assisted) translation, but you get the gist of this letter from Der Untergang:

Berlin, Den 20. April 1945

Admiral Dönitz
REICHSPRÄSIDENT
XXXXXXXXXXXXXX DER
XXXXXXXXXX

Zu Den
General Krebs
Führerhauptquartier
Berlin

…which I think means, roughly speaking…

Berlin, Den 20. April 1945

Admiral Dönitz
REICH PRESIDENT
XXXXXXXXXXXXXX DER
XXXXXXXXXX

To
General Krebs
Führer Headquarters
Berlin

I am empowered by the successor government,
to enter into peace negotiations.
I seek a negotiated basis between our
two states, which have suffered the greatest war losses.

Karl Dönitz
